I began shooting right before I started high school. I remember scrolling through all the interesting photos that were on there, being amazed and wanting to create something that provided a similar experience for other people. When I first started making photographs I was extremely shy, so I did a lot of self portraiture and still life photography at home. It helped me get better with composition and posing. For me the theme I deal with most in my work is representation, and I mean that beyond the surface level meaning that’s come to be associated with it. With my work my goal is to create an honest representation of each of my subjects by capturing their essence. Each of my images is meant to facilitate an intimate experience between the audience and subjects, where the viewer comes away knowing a little bit about the people in each photograph.
